Walt Disco
Assai Records Dundee 30th September 2026
Tonight I'm heading to Dundee Assai Records to photograph art-pop and glam rock Glasgow band, Walt Disco.
I'm really looking forward to this gig as its a lot more intimate and enclosed.
Assai Record put on a lot of these instore gigs across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, and now their latest shop in Aberdeen.
The store has to be commended for what they've being doing over the years to bring bands into these areas.
Back to this instore event and on arrival it was very quiet, but then again I was early.
The band are doing the rounds to promote their self titled album, Walt Disco which is released on the 2nd October.
I was just hanging about inside the record shop watching the band set up and I was mesmerised by this Analogue Modular System machine that part of the band ls set-up.
I was very intrigued watching them play around with the machine and getting the mix right before the gig started at 5pm.
The sound from the machine took me back to the 1980s when it was all syntheszier from bands like Depeche Mode Human League, Erasure, Soft Sell, New Order and OMD who the band have previously supported.
The band members, Jocelyn Si, Findlay Mccarthy, Lewis Carmichael, Charlie Lock and Jack Martin all looked ready to go for the 5pm starting time.
The first song from the band was "My Body Knows When To Run" followed by "Lies" which is one of my favourite songs off the new album.
Lead singer Jocelyn Si interacted with the fans throughout this small set and finished the night of with another track from the new album, Wonderland.
It wasnt a big crowd for this instore event but the fans who did turn up really enjoyed the bands performance and it was nice to see the band take time out to talk to the fans and sign copies of the new album.
