Fat Sam’s Dundee 20th September 2025
Tonight, Fat Sam’s welcome Tom Meighan to Dundee, and from what I’ve already heard about this tour, it should be a very energetic gig for all Meighan and Kasabian fans to relish in.
It’s been a difficult couple of years for Tom Meighan after he was sacked from his band Kasabian back in 2020 due to his personal legal matters.
Meighan has had to build his fan base back up as well as having to watch his ex- band continue without him. His one-time band mate Sergio took over as the lead singer in the band and has been successful since his departure, but many fans still crave for Meighan to be back in the band.
Kasabian have carried on with their success since Meighan was sacked. With new albums,” The Alchemist’s Euphoria” and “Happenings” both reaching number 1 in the UK album Charts back in 2022 and 2024, but this hasn’t kept Meighan down.
He might have had his problems over the last couple of years, but he has literally bounced back from all his troubles with his albums, Roadrunner and The Past, The Present and The Raw.
As the crowd slowly entered, Fat Sam’s, support for the night came from Connor McGlave. Connor got the crowd warmed up right from the off with a mixture of his own tunes and some well-known toe tappers for the fans to sing along to.
While waiting for Meighan to come on stage, I could see that it was an older crowd and a scattering of younger fans waiting patiently for this gig to get underway.
Meighan took to the stage at 8.30, with a packed Dundee crowd who gave the original voice of Kasabian a good old Scottish roar.
Meighan didn’t hang about and got straight into it with one of his own songs from 2022, Shout It Out. This was followed with a Kasabian classic Underdog which set the tone for the rest of the gig as the crowd belted out the songs right back at Meighan.
It was an energetic performance from Meighan, and his stage presence was different class throughout the gig. He had the crowd eating out of his hands with his own solo tracks such as “Headcase”, and “Don’t Give In”, “Better Life”, “High On You”, “White Lies”, “Would You Mind”, “We Can Do It”, “Exorcist”, “Movin On”.
Meighan interacted with the crowd throughout the gig “Dundee you are better than the Aberdeen fans last night”, again this went down a storm, and another roar from the crowd was roared back at Meighan.
Meighan might be out on his own these days, but I see nothing wrong with him playing his old Kasabian classics while he builds his fans base back up again.
With only eight Kasabian tracks being played tonight, including “Underdog”, “Ill Ray”, Where Did All the Love Go”, “Empire”, “Shoot the Runner”, “LSF” (Lost Souls Forever), “Club Foot”, and “Fire”, Meighan’s voice remains as powerful as ever throughout this gig.
I was slightly disappointed as I made my way to the back of the venue. It wasn’t as busy as I thought which surprised me. When Big names come to town, it’s usually a sell-out, but tonight, Dundee had a rock legend in town, and the locals didn’t turn up in force for this gig.
This was a gig not to be missed
